CERTIFICATE=20 REQUIREMENTS

STANDARD=20 B

Minimum=20 age of Candidate ... 16 years

STANDARD B CERTIFICATE=20 GUIDELINES:

Instructors and = Candidates must=20 understand that there is a marked change of approach to instructing 'B' = standard=20 and what they should endeavour to achieve by schooling the=20 horse.

The Examiners should not = expect=20 perfection at this standard, however, the candidate should understand = what is=20 being attempted. He/she should have sufficient 'feel' to realise what is = and=20 what is not being achieved, and have an idea of how to set about = improving=20 the work.

The Candidate must = appreciate that=20 the improvement in the horse's balance and performance is entirely = dependent on=20 the improvement in the rider's seat and the co‑ordination of the = aids.=20 Automatically, with the strengthening of the rider's seat, will come an = increase=20 in ability to ride the horse up to steady contact to the bit. Through = this the=20 rider will come to influence the quality of the horse's movements. The = ability=20 to do this, even to a degree, is a basic requirement for this=20 standard.

The Candidate should be = reasonably=20 proficient at the sitting trot and must know what the aim is and when = this is=20 achieved.
