CERTIFICATE=20 REQUIREMENTS

STANDARD=20 C STAR

Minimum=20 age of Candidate.... 14 years

 

INTRODUCTION:

This is an alternative = Certificate=20 to the K Certificate which bridges the gap between C and B Certificates. = Its=20 purpose is to provide an incentive for members who, having achieved C, = would=20 value an interim test to check progress and maintain=20 interest.

 

STANDARD C STAR CERTIFICATE=20 GUIDELINES:

Candidates should be = encouraged to=20 ride in a snaffle bit wherever possible. If another bit is used, the = Candidate=20 should know the name of the bit and understand its = action.

The Candidate should be = able to=20 demonstrate active riding skills at a fast pace.

The Candidate should be = developing a=20 correct and therefore stronger seat, independent of the hands and=20 reins.

The Candidate should be riding the = pony into an=20 even contact.

The Candidate should be = developing=20 feel through the scat and should not have to look when checking = diagonals or=20 leading leg.

The Candidate should be = well=20 established in the forward jumping position with a steady leg position = and=20 correct rein contact.

 

PRE‑REQUISITES:

D and C = Certificates.

 

EXAMINER: Refer to section on Examiners on = Page=20 3.

 

OBJECTIVES:

=95 To become an active = rider with=20 knowledge of the aids and how to apply them correctly and=20 effectively.

=95 To ride simple cross country and = showjumping=20 fences.

=95 To gain practical = experience and=20 knowledge of the care and conditioning of the horse in preparation for a = strenuous event.

=95 To have a thorough = knowledge of=20 the Road Rules for horses. To ride safely and sensibly on the roads and = in the=20 country.

Lunge an experienced, quiet horse.=20

Give quiet, clear and consistent = commands.=20

Control the horse on a large circle = with even=20 contact on the rein.

Lunge the horse at the walk and trot. = Halt to=20 command, and work equally well in both directions. =

Be aware of safety factors for both = horse and=20 handler.

 

HORSEMASTERSHIP AND GENERAL = KNOWLEDGE:=20
